The ITB's Golden Anniversary International Conference

The ITB's Golden Anniversary International Conference
Bandung, 15 – 20 June 2009

The number of population living in developing world is vastly increasing, contributing to more than half of the world?s population. More than half of them are considered in poverty situation. With increasing interconnection between countries, and regions, enforced by globalization, the gap among people living in the world expands. New trends and changes emerge creating demands for specific solutions. As poverty alleviation becomes the commitment of many developing countries, technology and science can be enabling factors towards fulfilling the commitment.

TB as one of the oldest science and technological based institution in Indonesia has been established in 50 years ago initiates the process of reshaping the future of developing countries by committing to poverty alleviation. The 50th year anniversary of ITB is a moment to which research and development in science and technology today can be directed towards progress in fighting poverty. In five of the forefront fields, we invite scholars in the field to participate in the subsequent conference as presented below.

It is hoped that through these conferences participants will exchange experiences and build strong networks for future research, policy discussion, and practical collaboration, and have opportunities for interaction with world renowned technical, policy and economic experts. We also hoped that The Millennium Research Agenda can be declared at the end of this event.
